Commute
4 Climate Guidelines

Still have questions about the Commute 4 Climate?

Email us at hello@commute4climate.com

  • A commute is simply travelling from point A to point B without a personal motor vehicle like your car or motorbike. Use active transport such as walking, riding your bicycle or scooter, skating, running, or catching any form of public transport (bus or ferry).

You can travel to and from any destination in the greater Hobart area.

  • Yes, if you own an electric bicycle or scooter you can use this for the Commute 4 Climate challenge!

Electrictic cars and motorbikes do not count.

  • Going for rides or walks for leisure or exercise do not count for this challenge.

But, if you were perhaps heading out to the hairdresser, and took your bike instead of your car, this would count!

Or, if you were heading out to meet a friend for ice-cream, and you walked there instead of driving, this would count!

  • 1 commute = 1 point = 1 raffle ticket

This decision is to keep this challenge equitable for people from different areas around nipaluna/Hobart, and with different abilities.

Not everybody may be able to walk up the hill to West Hobart or out to Glenorchy, or ride their bike all the way up Strickland Avenue. To make this challenge as accessible as possible we've included any kind of transport that is not a personal motor vehicle. For this reason, any trip whether it be walking, riding, scooting or catching a bus or ferry equals 1 point in the challenge and 1 raffle ticket.

  • YES!

If you're coming from outside of Hobart, or can't actively commute the whole way, and you're utilising a Park & Ride area to make your active commute accessible to you, that still counts as an active commute.

You can find out more about Park & Ride locations here.

  • To win the individual most commutes you have to record your commutes in Strava and write commute in each commute you do and share with the Commute4Climate Strava club - see the page on the website to join! This is to keep things fair, and if you don't want to download and record on Strava, don't worry! Just by signing up and completing a single commute you will be in the raffle for lots of prizes! If you are adding trips on strava don't forget to add your trips on website as well to be in the raffle.

  • The challenge starts on the 16th October and finishes at midnight on the 16th November. Any commutes during this time will count to the final tally and for entry into the raffle!

  • When you sign up and use the 'log a commute' form, you fill in basic details of your trip and can add your team name here each time you add a commute. To win the team with the most commutes at the end of the challenge you must be the team with most overall commutes..

  • Check out the prizes and sponsors page for more info!
